USA & Canada FAQs

Answering your questions about the USA & Canada.

Find out everything you need to know about a USA and Canada cruise, from what to eat to what to pack, with our handy list of FAQs.

There’s something for everyone in North America, whether you’re more of a beach bum or a city slicker. With a culture not too dissimilar from the UK’s, it’s perfect for those looking for a familiar experience (albeit with sunnier weather).

Both the USA and Canada are vast countries. On a cruise, you’ll get to experience the many highlights of each without having to drive coast to coast.

The USA is a diverse country whose attractions are countless. Start with the glamour of San Francisco with its nostalgic cable cars and elegant Golden Gate Bridge, or the idyllic Florida Keys.

In Canada, the national parks top our list – there’s no experience quite like kayaking in the milky blue waters of Lake Louise.

Depending on the time of year you sail with us, bring plenty of layers to prepare for the weather. Hiking shoes are essential if you plan on hiking in any of the national parks. And of course, your camera is a must.

Canada has six time zones: Pacific, Mountain, Central, Eastern, Atlantic and Newfoundland. The USA also has six: Hawaii, Alaska, Pacific, Mountain, Central and Eastern.

English is spoken in the majority of the USA and Canada. French is also an official language of Canada and spoken widely on the east coast.

The best time to visit the USA and Canada, with Celebrity Cruises.

Both the USA and Canada experience clearly defined seasons, which tend to correlate with those here in the UK. The warmest months to visit will be between May and September, and the coldest between October and March. The east coast of America is renowned for its beauty in the autumn, when the leaves turn the trees shades of burnt orange and luminous gold. Springtime in Vancouver is known for the arrival of the pastel pink cherry blossom.

There are also a number of events and festivals to consider when planning your USA and Canada cruise. February sees the arrival of the annual Super Bowl in the USA, with parties held across the nation in its honour.
