Discover incredible destinations in Hawaii.

The siren call of Hawaii is irresistible for the adventurous. The eight Hawaiian Islands are the pinnacle of tropical luxury, where sun, sea and sand are more than just words on a postcard – they’re a way of life.

On Maui, look out for whales at Lahaina Harbour. On the Island of Hawai’i (also known as Big Island), you can taste some of the world’s best coffee and discover the active volcanoes of Kīlauea and Mauna Loa. Oahu is home to the capital city of Honolulu – in iconic Waikiki, you can soak up the cosmopolitan vibe and watch the surfers from the beach.

In the evening, as waves break on the shore, sit back and watch the world go by from the deck of your Celebrity Cruises ship.

We enjoyed the ports of call and the fact that this Hawaii cruise was a back to back cruise allowing 10 days in Hawaii. The staff were excellent and always pleasant.

Best time to visit Hawaii, with Celebrity Cruises

Although there is a wet and a dry season in Hawaii, the weather is highly changeable, and rain can fall at any time of the year. The hottest months tend to be July, August and September, with the coolest and wettest being November.

Hawaii is home to many events and festivals which can dictate the time of year you visit. The Merrie Monarch Festival takes place in Hilo on the Island of Hawai’i, and is generally considered the “Hula Olympics”. As well as traditional hula competitions, you’ll find craft fairs, live music and plenty of authentic cuisine. Foodies will love the Hawaii Food and Wine Festival, which takes place across four of the islands: Maui, Oahu, Kauai and Hawaii Island. The focus is on fusion dishes and locally sourced produce.

On Hawaii Island, you can’t miss the Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, where you can observe live lava flows. On Oahu, grab dinner and a drink down at Waikiki Beach, or climb up Diamond Head Crater for unbeatable views. In Maui, a day spent hiking through the moon-like landscapes of Haleakalā is rewarded by ethereal sunset views from the top.

Bring plenty of summer clothes in lightweight fabrics such as cotton and linen to keep you cool. The dress code in Hawaii is fairly casual, but you might like to bring some smarter clothes and layers or the evening. Essentials like sun cream and sunglasses are a must, as is swimming gear for those snorkelling trips.

Hawaii uses HST (Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time), which is UTC-9.

Hawaiian cuisine has five distinct influences; Mexico, USA, Greece, Italy and Thai. Common staples include poi (fermented taro root) and poke (raw fish salad).
